Module: The DITA Standard for Technical Communication

About the topic:

DITA is a structured authoring writing approach, a standard, a methodology, an information architecture, and even a style guide, developed by technical communicators for technical communication. DITA is made possible by XML. The workflows and practices used in technical communication are changing from earlier style-based approaches to structured XML-based approaches because XML is more efficient and flexible. An understanding of DITA and XML authoring is therefore of great importance to technical communicators. Moving to a DITA authoring approach relies on the same core writing skills of technical communicators, but requires a paradigm shift in thinking when it comes to how information is designed, structured, marked up, re-used, and processed.
